Spearmint tea has been studied for its vast utilizations in optimizing health. From improving hormonal imbalances in PCOS, to improving the gut micoriome, to preventing stomach pains and many more. Green tea is great for balancing the gut and vaginal microbiome, can help decrease helicobacter pylori infections and can improve heart health.

In reagards to PCOS, spearmint tea is especially potent. It has been studied to reduce andogen (testosterone) levels. In a randomized controlled trial published in 2010, researchers found that when women took spearmint tea twice per day for one month their free and total testosterone were significantly decreased. The degree of hirsutism (facial hair) also significantly decreased in the treatment group (Grant, 2010). It is impornat to note that spearmint and mint tea can aggravate acid reflux so it should not be consumed by patients with reflux.

Green tea has been shown to decrease the adhesion of helicobacter pylori in the GI system and in the bladder. Because of this, it is great at preventing the recurrence of urinary tract infections. The polyphenols it contains are also great antioxidants which have powerful cardioprotective effects. Studies have shown that people who consume 2-3 cups of green tea per day have a significant decrease in coronary heart disease risk.
